Symphony Of Angels – By Demand – Brisbane – 28th Dec 2019

May 23rd, 2019
An Excellent Christmas Present For The Rock Lover In Your Life!

‘Hurry – Tickets On Sale 9am Monday 27th May 2019′

Due to popular demand The Angels now bring their highly acclaimed, sold-out ‘Symphony of Angels’ orchestral performance to the QPAC Concert Hall in Brisbane on Saturday December 28th, 2019.

Under the musical direction of conductor and composer, Rob John, the band, brothers Rick & John Brewster, Nick Norton and Sam Brewster, fronted by the incomparable and charismatic Dave Gleeson, are set to rock again in this symphonic spectacular.

A 20 Song Extravaganza

This 20 song extravaganza will take you through The Angels’ greatest works: Take a Long Line, Marseilles, After the Rain, Be With You, No Secrets and Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again to name a few.

When John and Rick began writing songs it was inevitable that their late grandfather, Hooper (pianist/composer/founder of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra) and their late father, Arthur (cellist/pianist/conductor) would wield their influence from afar. They grew up surrounded by classical music and always hoped one day to experience an event such as this.

Peter Burdon, Adelaide Advertiser: “Musical arrangements from Rob John (conducting) and Jamie Messenger were absolutely stunning, taking full advantage of the rich texture an orchestra can bring. The orchestra was confined to strings and brass, but with all the top section leaders in their seats and clearly enjoying themselves, it was first class”.

Symphony of Angels’ is a one night only show and an event not to be missed!

Symphony Of Angels – Thank You

April 12th, 2019

There is nothing more glorious than the joy of music being passed from one generation to the next.

The Angels walk on stage to Hooper Brewster-Jones’ overture from ‘Australia Felix‘. Hooper’s grandsons, John and Rick, nod at each other. John then looks at his son, Sam, on bass, and smiles. Three generations of Brewsters making music. Full circle. A dream come true. The power of music.

Forty-five years after they formed – “45 years better,” one fan remarks – the power of The Angels is undiminished. The Brewster Brothers’ incomparable guitar interplay, the rumbling rhythm section of Sam Brewster and Nick Norton, and the manic energy of frontman Dave Gleeson, a potent mix of menace and mirth. Then there’s the conductor, Rob John, who speaks both languages – classical and rock.

There are moving tributes to bandmates who are no longer with us. ‘Love Takes Care Of Its Own‘ – ‘I Just Want To Be With You‘.

Classic rock, classical music. Seemingly, a clash of cultures. In the end, this is a communal experience. Many members of the crowd have brought their children. Some are seeing The Angels for the very first time.

There’s an orchestra on stage. And a choir. The choir members smile as every member of the crowd joins them: “No way, get f#cked, f#ck off!” The chant. A rallying cry. An Aussie mating call.

This is family, a Symphony of Angels.

Many thanks to:
